Race start at 5 am, Plan is to ride with Ona Lawrence to help slow me and Nash down, With all the rain and the trail very muddy we don't what to expect !!! first 6 miles stayed in front on single track, a columbian rider on a leased horse galloped by and Nash started his Monster phase. He was manageable but on the muscle. Thank goodness he is fit and a mountain goat with his feet. Had a 30 min hold at 10 miles, took 4 min to recover with all the activity and about 20 horses all came in together. Left with about 6 horses but soon with Nash still on the muscle moved back to the front, until tHe Columbian rider whom took 18 min. to pulse at the hold came galloping bye. Let Nash canter the good spots to help relax. About 2 min to recover and was the 4th horse at in gate and 1st to pulse gate. Vets say horse looks awesome at this point. He's making me work both in the saddle and in the trot out lanes ( wind sprints to keep up ) Nash feels awesome even with the deep mud he's just cruising. Ona horse is really having to work, and we both hope Nash becomes more relaxed for the next 75 miles.
