Ride #2- introducing people to a new road!

I set out for a quick run up Old LaHonda, determined to “document” it as a featured ride on our website. Unfortunately, because it was getting late, the sun wasn’t in a good mood for photos. But I did get a few.

We've raised $1,783.73 for our cause.

The Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition is a membership-based organization dedicated to promoting the bicycle in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. We see bicycling as a vital part of the solution to many of the environmental, political, social, and health problems facing society.

Society is warming to the fact that transportation by bicycle can reduce air pollution, calm traffic, improve health, and reduce our dependency on fossil fuels. As a result, bicycling has become more prevalent across the country. In order to facilitate the switch from cars, though, people must feel confident on their bikes; this requires a change, both in attitudes and to the modern urban landscape. SVBC works within the community to increase enthusiasm for bicycling and make the roads safer and more accommodating for cyclists. With the support of our members and other donors, we reach out to local politicians, city and county employees, businesses, and state agencies to ensure that current and future development policy considers the needs of cyclists. We compliment these advocacy efforts with a host of programs and activities designed to encourage would-be cyclists to get on their bikes and feel comfortable doing so. The Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition is constantly expanding its influence across Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Join us and be a part of this movement!
