Lorrie Fair has been a standout on the soccer field since she was a kid growing up in Los Altos, Calif. As a high school senior, she made the US National Team and earned a spot as an alternate on the Gold Medal winning Olympic Team in Atlanta. In 1999 she was the youngest member of the U.S. team that won the World Cup in front of 90,000 fans at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Over her ten year career on the US National Team she earned an Olympic gold, an Olympic silver, and a World Cup Championship.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina, she helped the team to three NCAA Championships and earned National Player of the Year honors in 1999. In January 2008, she became the first U.S. recruit for England’s Women’s Premier League, playing for the Chelsea Ladies and working for Chelsea Football Club in their Corporate and Social Responsibility Department.

As an athlete ambassador for Right To Play since 2005, Fair has traveled to refugee camps in Azerbaijan, Uganda, and Thailand coaching girls and boys in order to promote sport for social development and raise awareness for the world’s nine million refugees. She also is a part of US Sport Envoys, most recently coaching underprivileged teens in Morocco with the US Soccer Federation and the US State Department.

Currently, Lorrie works for Los Angeles Futbol Club (LAFC) as the Director of Community Relations and Social Responsibility. LAFC Foundation works both locally and globally using soccer as the platform to provide underserved youth with opportunities to improve their lives through education. Personally, Lorrie is the founder of Kickabout, an organization committed to supporting sport for social development projects around the world. She is dedicated to promoting peace, social development, anti-racism, women’s issues, and health education through the power of the world’s most popular game, and your Activities on Plus 3 can help be a part of this mission.
